A book that I considered reading over winter break is called "Nothing." It sounds like a really exciting book. I have actually been looking forward to it. The story is supposed to be about a white, blank wall that does absolutely nothing. It will be quite fun to read.

A book that's interesting and that I'm going to review is "The World's Dumbest Criminals."
It's a book that has stories from everywhere in the world. It involves criminals who pull dumb crimes. Some of the stories in this book are guaranteed to make you laugh. I must admit, though, some of the stories in this book were just downright silly. If you are into comedy books, then I guess I could recommend this one. Take note that this isn't a chapter book. They're all random stories that take place from different parts around the world.

I don't watch TV as frequently as I used to, but when I do it's usually Family Guy. It never fails to make me laugh, regardless if it's an episode if I've seen a thousand times.I prefer the older episodes (mostly stuff from seasons one and two). Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the newer stuff, too, but not nearly as much as I do with the older stuff. Family Guy is definitely something I will never get tired or bored of.

Thanksgiving

For my week off next week, nothing comes to mind but celebrating Thanksgiving much like a vast majority of other people. It will also be nice to have extra days of school off. Thanksgiving isn't that special to me, but I guess it's better than Halloween, Easter or Valentine's Day. So it's not a bad holiday and it's not a good holiday, just an okay holiday I guess. There are some years where it can be good and some years where it can be lackluster. I'm kind of hoping it'll be a good one this year since the last few years have been kinda boring, but I'll just have to wait and see.

Life without technology would be less spoiling, but very boring. It's definitely possible to live without those things, but barely. Technology has helped us a lot as a human race in the world (medical reasons, getting places, catching criminals). It's used both as a necessity and for entertainment purposes. So if there was a line between "necessary" and "unnecessary", I think it would qualify more of a necessity.

My thoughts on the reservation is that it must be tough living there due to the fact that not only does everyone live poverty there, but there's a lot of unfriendly and cruel people. I'm surprised the kid is containing himself and staying sane. I would have probably snapped eventually. I couldn't imagine living there, not at all. It would be both frustrating and depressing, physically, mentally and socially.

To move away from a place I've grown up and pretty much lived all my life would be hard at first. I guess if I had a fear, it would be how the people were like in that area. But really, in all honesty, I'm not the type of person who's totally scared of moving away. I don't mind seeing new places. Then again, I've really never been in a situation of having to move really far away, so I guess I can't say for sure how it'd be.

I'm the kind of person who doesn't like many books at all, but I think this book is delivering for the entertainment purposes. My first impression of it was; it was sad, but funny at the same time from the way he was writing it. I think this book has potential for being good throughout all of it.

One of the biggest toughest obstacles I had to go through was 8th grade history class. It was arguably the most difficult class I had to take in my entire life. The key thing in that class was homework. It was a pain in the (you know what). And on top of the excruciating homework we had just about every day, we did nonstop class work as well. I only remember about one or two days where we had somewhat free days. I was failing that class about 2/3 of the semester and luckily made a comeback the last term of the semester rising my overall grade to a D, but barely. Unfortunately, I failed the class miserably the second semester, but I was still shocked I was able to get a D the first semester.

The book I am reading is called "The Library Card". I haven't read that much about it yet, so I don't know much. So far I think it's an okay book.

Today I will be writing about one of my favorite place I've ever been. And this place I'm talking about is California. I was in the sixth grade when I went. I have been to Anaheim and Los Angeles. I remember Los Angeles being very polluted and crowded. We stayed there for awhile to do some looking around (by "we" I mean me and my family). Then, we went on and took a bus to Anaheim. That's where we did most of our stuff. I don't remember much of it. I remember going to Disney Land for a little bit then doing a lot of browsing around. We stayed down there for about 3 days and then had to leave because of a flood warning.

10/29/09

Dear Rebekah,

I would like to learn how to pass the test so I can move on with my GED. Another thing I would also like to learn is to become more fluent. One last thing I would like to learn is preparation for the test so I can feel ready once the actual exam arrives.

Sincerely, Brice

The poem is about a wife who has cancer and is trying to overcome it by taking chemotherapy. The husband is pacing around the hospital room concerned about her. I don't like or dislike the poem. I think it's Okay. I prefer poems that have more humor.

Roses are yellow
Violets are brown
You made this poem frown
You will now never be able to go to town
Bushes are green
Cement is gray
But only when it's not the season of may
I will poke you
Careful for the monster not to choke you
I'm a poet
And I don't even know it

For this weekend, I won't be doing anything eventful. My parents don't like to get out much in the fall and winter time. The only thing that comes to mind that will be somewhat eventful is a couple weeks away. It will be Halloween. I will probably do the usual and hand out the candy since there's no big party planned this year and I'm a little too old to trick-or-treat. We get about no more than ten trick-or-treaters a year. Halloween is nothing special in my opinion. November, December, and January are my favorite holidays and I always look forward to them.

Song Lyrics

A song I really enjoy is "I Don't Wanna Stop" by Ozzy Osbourne. The song is about him not wanting to stop what he's doing. Judging from the lyrics, he had said he's always been at the top and he doesn't wanna stop his drugs and rock and rolling and wants to continue forever. There's not much else to it. That's about it.

Poetry

I think people write poetry as both a hobby and a necessity, but mostly a necessity. An example would be to use it to pursue themselves in a career in the music industry for lyrics. Without poetry, songs would sound out of line; mostly rap since the genre is pretty much poetry itself. There are other careers that include poetry, but that was just an example. Without poetry, lots of music wouldn't exist.

Family Tradition

We're not much of the traditional type on both my mom's and dad's side of the family. We have one tradition I can recall and I think it's somewhat enjoyable. Depends what goes down. It's on my dad's side of the family and it's a family reunion. We have these once every five years and our people all across the world gather at one place. Usually here somewhere in Salem since most of our members live here. I don't much remember the last one I went to. All I recall is lots of food and a bunch of hiking since we were out in the country. I met very nice people there who were from other places such as Arizona and Tennessee. I don't know when the next reunion will be, but I'll probably be going.

Emergency

An emergency I had to almost deal with once was about 5 years ago, maybe longer. Our landlord came into the duplex (place I used to live at), and he was fixing something below the house. Can't quite recall what it was. I was the only one home at the time when he had done it. Anyways, the thing he fixed released a load of toxic feums (the ones you can't really notice). The carbon monoxide detector was reacting to it, but was making no noise to aware me since the battery was kind of dead. Luckily, someone came home before something bad happened. Think it was my dad and he looked at the thing and said the feums were sky high. I could have ended up in the hospital if lasted in there any longer. So we evacuated the house for a few hours and let it air out. These days, I would probably be more aware of my surroundings since I'm older, but this is certainly something other parents out there should take note of; silent but deadly.

A place I would never like to go back to is my middle school. I don't know about now, but when I went there, people weren't very kind and couldn't keep things to themselves that well. At times it was hard to contain yourself from lashing out on someone. Grade 6 or 7 weren't that bad, it was mainly 8th grade. It is definitely a grade I wouldn't want to revisit.

Home

Somewhere, for me, that's considered home is probably home itself (the place I'm living in right now). I've lived in Salem/Keizer all my life and don't plan on moving this place ever, or at least the state of Oregon. I'm sure it would be different if I have visited more areas in my life time, but it has been limited mainly because my parents don't like to travel much. I've been to Washington, California, and Nevada. That's all I recall. Say if Oregon were to get destroyed and was nonexistent anymore, my secondary home would probably be Las Vegas. Only problem with that, though, is that it's hard to afford.

September 11th

I was in the 4th grade when 9/11 happened. I remember it being the first thing we talked about in class the day it happened. Since it was long ago, I don't remember much of it. I'm sure it affected people who live in New York City a whole lot more (esp. the victims and witnesses)
I do, however, believe it was an inside job; but that's my own personal opinion. But inside job or not, it's still a tragedy that all of those people lost their lives that day. It's something that will not soon nor never be forgotten.

Outside the United States

Choosing any particular place is difficult. Country-wise, I would go to Europe. I choose this country because it's where most of my ancestors originate from, but main the United Kingdom and Italy. Those would probably be my main places to visit. Other countries would include: Germany, France, and others around that area. From other peoples' prospectives, they say it's pretty entertaining down there and plenty to explore. I guess maybe one of these days, I can find out myself.

Ideal Day

An ideal day for me would probably be somewhere out of where I live; at more of a paradise-like place. Maybe going back to Las Vegas. Or perhaps to Hawaii. Where ever there's a bigger city since I'm more of an urban person. Any city is fine except New York City! Living in such a congested area is even a nightmare thinking about it. Other cities such as, Chicago, Philadelphia, Huston, and maybe Los Angeles, but I am still iffy on that one since of all its crime. I would save up as much money as possible so I could do a lot of stuff. I probably wouldn't bring that many people with me. Some family members, and a couple friends is all it would most likely come down to.

Favorite things about Fall

There are not many things that I like about fall. To me, fall and spring are both the weakest seasons. It does, however, lead up to my favorite season which is winter. The holidays that take place in fall also aren't the best (in my opinion).

Thanksgiving is OK, but I have never been a big fan of Halloween. Handing out candy gets old after awhile. The environment of fall can look pretty appealing, though. It's kind of nice to see all the colors accumulate. I suppose if I had to choose spring or fall, I would choose fall. I am a bigger fan of cold weather. And that's pretty much all I can say about fall! After all, without a fall, there wouldn't be a winter.

Addiction

Depending on the person you are, you'll be addicted to certain things others are not. Many things from drugs, alcohol, smoking from food, soda, and other things you wouldn't normally hear of. It's bad in most cases and it's important that people don't start getting addicted to things that you'll regret.

Why it's important to go to school

School and an education is important because these days, almost every job requires a high school diploma or GED. Without those things, finding a job would be very difficult. This is the exact reason why I come to school; to get an education so I end up getting somewhere in my life. I can't imagine how hard it would be to be a dropout. It's both important and necessary that everyone obtains an education. For some, like me, it may be excessively difficult at times, but for some, it's just a walk in the park.

If I lost anything

If I lost anything/everything in a natural disaster, I would try to make sure my family is safe first. And if they were in a tough predicament, I would try my best to save them. And depending on how bad the disaster were to be, I would try to save other things, like my values. But I think it's important that other people come before your values.

Dedication

Dedication, I think, has a big role in life. Without it, certain things may not exist. (certain occupations for example) Some people are dedicated to their job and like to work long hours day in and day out. Also, with dedication, you gain the respect of others for being a good inspiration. There are many other examples out there of dedication. And it's always important to have in life.

Favorite Food

My all time favorite kind of food is Chinese. I like it either homemade or at fast food / diner restaurants. If I had to choose a favorite kind of meat / pasta, I would most definatly choose sweet and sour chicken. For pasta / rice, I would choose the chicken fried rice. Egg rolls are also on my top. If it weren't so expensive, I would eat it every day. But it's always a good treat whenever had.

Monday, September 21, 2009

If I could have any job in the world, I would most likely choose a Chef. I've always liked cooking and the nature of it. But being a Chef does require a bit of college, so I'm not sure if I'm quite up fir it. My family has a history of good cooks, but I'm still debating on what I'll be from this day. Only one thing will tell; and that's time.

Which family member is most important

If I had to choose a most influential family member other than my parents, it would most definitely be my sister. She has been probably the one of the most successful member in our family's history. She has never struggled with school and she helps me out sometimes if I'm having trouble with a particular subject. We've always had a close connection and I think she'll support me as much as I can to get through school.

What role do your parents play?

Most parents / grandparents play the roll of a care-taker in children's lives, when growing up. They work so they come up with the money to do so. Most parents are supportive of their kids, unless you have unusual parents. And they support them until they can support themselves, then the kid carries on the tradition of having their own kids. (if the choose to)

Favorite Music

My favorite kind of music is the rock genre. I like different classes of it; from soft rock, to hard rock, to metal. My favorite artists change frequently, so there's really no saying who my absolute favorite is. Rock music is probably something that will be a part of me forever.
